The Kirk family have been farming in the village of Barkby, Leicestershire, for four generations and have been rearing turkeys for over 60 years. Our farm is a traditional mixed family farm, combining dairy, beef and arable enterprises alongside our specialist Christmas poultry business.
Over the decades, farming methods have changed significantly, but our commitment to producing high-quality food and maintaining high standards of animal welfare has remained the same. We take great pride in caring for our livestock and managing our land responsibly to ensure it can be enjoyed by future generations.
What began as a small flock of turkeys sold locally in feather has grown into a thriving seasonal enterprise. Despite this growth, Kirk's Turkeys remains a family-run business, with family members involved in all aspects of production, from caring for the birds to preparing orders for collection.
Our turkeys are reared slowly, allowing them ample time to mature naturally and develop the succulent texture and traditional flavour that make them the centrepiece of so many Christmas tables. We believe that giving our birds the time, space and care they deserve results in a superior product that our customers return for year after year.
Growing much of our own cereal crops allows us to provide a home-grown feed ration and gives us complete traceability from field to fork. This close involvement throughout the entire production process helps us maintain the high standards for which Kirk's Turkeys has become known.
We firmly believe that good, locally produced food has never been more important. By buying directly from the farmer, customers can be confident in the quality, provenance and welfare standards behind every bird. We enjoy building long-term relationships with our customers, many of whom have been returning to us for generations and have made a Kirk's Turkey part of their family Christmas tradition.
